Annapurna’s World Vegetarian Cafe is a world-class Vegan~Vegetarian Restaurant with locations in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. They offer homestyle organic vegan food. There are many vegetarian restaurants in the nation, however, what differentiates Annapurna’s is their ability to offer Ayurvedic vegan fresh food that is locally grown. The organic vegan fresh food is offered with spices and vegetarian food that are made fresh daily. Eating on the go with fast foods can quickly lead to fast food addiction which, in turn, leads to severe imbalance of your physical and mental well-being. Annapurna’s World Vegetarian Cafe has the cure to this everyday imbalance. It’s known as the “Ayurvedic Way” or most commonly known as “The Science of Life.” Most foods target your sweet taste buds and only your sweet taste buds, and this causes your body to crave carbohydrates and sugars. Sattvic, also known as pure food, targets six tastes in every meal- sweet, sour, salty, bitter, astringent and pungent. With every plate combining these six tastes, your body receives a balanced and more relaxed feeling with every bite. So when you are looking for an organic Vegan Restaurant with authentic vegetarian native foods, stop and visit Annapurna’s World Vegetarian Restaurant at one of our two Vegan Restaurants in Albuquerque or Santa Fe.
Annapurna’s offers a sit down restaurant or take-out food with our Car-ma curbside service. So the next time you are in a hurry, you can still eat native foods that are made with organic vegan food at our Albuquerque or Santa Fe Restaurants. it’s food that is made fresh daily.
Annapurna has become known as the “place for healing cuisine.” What exactly is this healing cuisine? Food is the very essence of our bodies. The mind is affected by the conditions of the body. So ultimately food affects our state of consciousness. As pointed out in the Hindu spiritual scripts, vegetarian food ensures good health and longevity.
People are realizing that a natural vegetarian diet is conducive to long life and that food should be taken “as your medicine” as Hippocrates stated. Ayurveda vegan organic food helps us identify ourselves as vata, pitta and kapha, thus relating our bodies to the elements of the universe. The forces of the elements are present inside and outside of us, therefore caring for and respecting your own body begins at home. Ayurveda is a living ideal with worldly principles that include all cultures. Ayurvedic cooking is certainly not modern Indian cooking as you would have gathered from visits tour Albuquerque Restaurant or Santa Fe Restaurant. The menu at Annapurna’s is unique, thus making customers even more curious about ayurvedic food.
Annapurna’s on Fourth has recently moved a bit farther south into the place vacated by Dion’s.With its nice fresh paint job, it is much cozier that the old place.
The Food
Cardamon Pancakes
Two gluten-free golden griddled pancakes and mango coulis dusted with almonds and
coconut come together perfectly for the ultimate twist on the classic pancake.
Most gluten-free baked stuff is rubbery and tasteless. Not so here. These pancakes are light and airy with a rich cardamon taste. The mango coulis is so good that I may never again butter my pancakes. Fabulous.
Teas
Cape Nectar, Chamomile Lavender, Honeybush,
Lavender Peppermint, Live 4 Life, Peppermint,
Rooibos, Macadamia Rooibos, World Ch
Tulsi, Tulsi Ginger, Tulsi Gota Kola, Pitta, Kapha,
Vata, Shanti, Annapurna’s Ginger Tea
Black Mango, China Rose, Earl Grey, English Breakfast,
South African Kwazulu, Tearoom Blend, Yorkshire Blend
Green Tea, Jasmine Green, Tulsi Green, Yerba Mate, and lots more. Get a pot. Relax.
Quinoa and Roasted Vegetable Salad
A garden of roasted vegetables: zucchini, eggplant, marinated artichoke hearts, red peppers, and fresh spinach gently tossed into a warm savory quinoa, house blended herbed balsamic vinaigrette and sprinkled with fresh feta cheese. If you are vegan, ask them to hold the cheese. Or cheat — it’s wonderfully creamy.
Build Your Own Gourmet Pizza — Gluten Free
A rustic hand rolled thin herbed crust sits under a perfectly seasoned traditional marinara baked into a bountiful variety of your choice of five of the following toppings: mozzarella, cheddar, feta, mushrooms, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, veggie bacon, onions, spinach, grilled
eggplant, zucchini, olives and green chili.
This is the best gluten-free pizza in town. It is made of chapati dough. My favorite toppings are eggplant, mozzarella, red peppers, mushrooms, and (of course) green chiles. The chiles are hot and smoky.
Quinoa Salad — Vegan
Be sure to look at the specials board. If you are lucky, you will find a quinoa salad with a bowl of sweet potato soup. This soup is thick and creamy, and would probably be a winner at the Roadrunner Food Bank’s Souper Bowl. It’s that good.
I am not a vegetarian. But I eat here quite often because everything here is fresh, beautifully prepared, and more than delicious. My personal faves are the cardamon pancakes (I even have them for dinner) and the GF veggie pizza.

“At Annapurna, deliciousness is part and parcel of every dining experience. It’s Indian cuisine to the nth degree and an order of magnitude better than most vegetarian cuisine. It’s cuisine that provides pleasure in every forkful, a sensual delight in every meal. The Alibi described every platter at Annapurna as a “delicacy.”
“First-time visitors need not despair about what to order, especially if you’re already somewhat familiar with Indian cuisine. The menu is extremely user friendly with vivid color pictures of many entrees as well as inviting descriptions of the entrees. To the greatest extent possible, the food is locally grown and is always freshly prepared every day. That is an amazing feat considering the breadth of the menu, a multi-page compendium of Ayurvedic deliciousness.”
